Seamlessly Restoring Your Complete Smile
If you have one or more missing teeth, a Dental Bridge offers an excellent, fixed solution to restore the appearance and function of your bite. At Mentone Smiles, we design and fit custom-made bridges that effectively “bridge the gap,” providing a stable, aesthetic replacement tooth that is permanently anchored to your adjacent natural teeth or dental implants.
Replacing missing teeth is crucial for maintaining your facial structure, preventing remaining teeth from drifting, and ensuring you can chew and speak with confidence. Our experienced team utilises high-quality materials to ensure your bridge is both durable and visually appealing, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
In addition, our dentists carefully assess your bite, gum health, and bone structure to determine the ideal type of bridge for your needs. We also focus on comfort and precision, taking detailed impressions and using advanced dental technology to create a bridge that fits naturally and feels just like your own teeth. With proper care and regular check-ups, your dental bridge can provide long-lasting function and help preserve your overall oral health for years to come.

Understanding How Dental Bridges Work
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic device composed of two main parts:
Abutment Teeth
The natural teeth or [Dental Implants] on either side of the gap. These are prepared and fitted with crowns that serve as the anchors for the bridge.

Types of Dental Bridges
We will assess your situation to recommend the most suitable type of bridge:
- Traditional Bridges: The most common type, where crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the missing tooth (the abutments) to hold the replacement tooth in place. This requires preparing (reducing) the adjacent natural teeth.
- Cantilever Bridges: Used when there is only one natural tooth adjacent to the gap.
- Resin-bonded (Maryland) Bridges: These use metal or porcelain wings bonded to the inside surfaces of the adjacent teeth, requiring less preparation of the abutment teeth.
- Implant-Supported Bridges: If you have multiple missing teeth but don't want an implant for every tooth, a bridge can be supported by two or more strategically placed Dental Implants.

FAQ's
What is the difference between a dental bridge and a dental implant?
How long do dental bridges last?
With good oral hygiene and regular professional maintenance, high-quality dental bridges can typically last for 10 to 15 years, and often much longer. Lifespan depends on the health of the supporting teeth and gums.
How do I clean a dental bridge?
Is the procedure painful?
Can I get a bridge if I have missing teeth in different areas?
A bridge is designed to restore a single continuous gap. If you have multiple, non-adjacent missing teeth, you may need multiple separate bridges, a combination of Dental Implants and bridges, or a Denture solution.
Can I eat normally with a dental bridge?
Yes. Once your bridge is fitted and you’ve adjusted to it, you should be able to eat comfortably and normally. It’s best to start with softer foods initially, but as the bridge settles, you can return to your regular diet while avoiding very hard or sticky foods to prolong its lifespan.
